The Eiffage group
On 20 February 2006, the Eiffarie consortium acquired the French government's stake in APRR, which has been the parent company of AREA since 1994.
APRR & AREA now belong to the Eiffage group's Concessions division.

- A powerful fit between the group's five main business lines: construction and real estate (Eiffage Construction), road construction, civil engineering and earthworks (Eiffage Travaux Publics), electrical installation (Forclum), metallic construction (Eiffel), infrastructure concessions and public-private partnerships (Eiffage Concessions).
- Strong, diversified business activities including prestige projects, urban development, motorway infrastructure, tramway systems, airport facilities and wind farms. The group reported sales of €11 billion in 2006.
- Enviable industrial and market positions throughout Europe, with 63,600 employees worldwide (particularly in France, Poland, Spain, Italy, Germany and the Benelux countries)
- A longstanding employment model based on employee shareholding – 90% of employees are currently also shareholders, together owning more than 23% of the Group's capital.
- One of Europe's foremost motorway management group's. Eiffage co-founded France's first private motorway concession operator, Cofiroute, in 1970, and is a major player in the European build-and-run market, with projects such as the financing and construction of the Millau viaduct to its credit.
