The Group has a results-oriented culture built around a strong commitment to monitoring accidents and analysing their sources in order to enable appropriate remedial action to be taken without delay.

Constantly-improving results

Motorways are four times as safe as conventional roads, and Safety is improving continually, with annual drops of 5% to 6% in the numbers of fatal accidents, deaths and accidents involving injuries over the past 20 years.
The table below represents the numbers of accidents causing material damage only, of accidents causing injuries, of people injured and of deaths recorded across the Group's network over the past five years.
The number of accidents causing injuries and the number of deaths have fallen by 30% and 20%, respectively, over the past five years.
