Its activity and the leverage it generates naturally for the local economy by promoting the migration of people and goods make the Group a key partner for local authorities in the areas of economic growth and regional development. With a global average weighted workforce of 4,036 in 2007, the Group is a major employer in the regions concerned. The land & property taxes and business tax paid by the Group often represent a significant contribution to the local economy. In addition, the Group also pays taxes at national level, thereby directly helping to finance infrastructure.
The Group has a wide range of partnerships with local and regional authorities, notably covering the promotion of regional tourism and the optimisation of the regions served by its network.
The introduction of new types of subscription and the co-financing of motorway development projects (e.g. interchanges) also contribute to regional economic and regional development. Other forms of partnership concern the Group’s participation in the national policy as regards the rebalancing of modes of transport.
